Street Dance	Late August	The annual Street Dance is organized by the Blackfalds Town Council and takes place on the second Friday of August each year. The library celebrates the end of the Summer Reading Program by presenting awards and prizes during the dance. We also operate the concession, the profits of which are used to purchase children's books for the library. Contact us for more information.

Programs for Kids

Program:	Description:
Books for Babies	Books for Babies is a family literacy program which recognizes, celebrates and supports parents as their children's first teachers, and is for babies under one year of age. Books for Babies encourages parents to read to their children earily in life, as birth to 2 - 3 years of age is an important window of opportunity for the brain to develop language skills. Drop into the library with your baby, and receive a book bag of goodies and a free membership for your child. The Blackfalds Public Library Board is sponsoring the program this year. Mother Goose Story Time for Walkers	Mother Goose rhymes, puppets, songs and stories from picture books written for toddlers will provide your little one with a morning filled with new wonders and fun activities! No program fee, but each child must have a library membership to participate. All take place at 10:00 a.m. at the Blackfalds Public Library. Tales for Terrific Threes	Tales for Terrific Threes is being offered at the Blackfalds Public Library on Tuesdays at 10:30 a.m. This is a special program only for children who are three years old. Bring your child to the one-half hour drop-off program and have them enjoy age appropriate finger plays, stories, crafts and fun with friends the same age. There is no program fee; however each child must have a Blackfalds Public Library membership to participate. Register at the library or contact us for more information. Story Hour	A great program full of fun and wonderful learning opportunities for children! The children will enjoy having stories read to them, puppets, flannel board, and crafts. There is no program fee but child must have library membership to participate. Children's membership fee is $5.00. Register at the library or contact us for more information. TD Summer Reading Club	Libraries and Archives Canada has announced the theme of the Toronto Dominion Summer Reading Club 2006 is Quest for Heroes! The program runs from July 3 to August 11, 2006 and is open to children under the age of 18 years. Contact us for more information, and sure to regularly check our website for updates.

Programs for Adults

Computer Courses are now being offered at the Blackfalds Public Library the third Tuesday and Thursday of each month Drop in and register for Email, Basic Computers, Browsing the Web, Digital Photography, Scanners and Printers, and Buying and Selling Online. We have a great instructor so come in and register soon as the classes fill quickly. If you would like a class on a specific topic please contact the staff at the library and we will try to get one set up for you.

Fundraising

Name That Book!	Ongoing	Help the Blackfalds Public Library continue to purchase new and wonderful books for the library. Your donation of $30.00 grants you your name on the spine of one book and a tax-deductible receipt for $30.00. Names will be embroidered on the "wall hanging books" to be displayed in the library. Drop in and see our wonderful fabric bookcase. Contact us for more information.
Blackfalds Public Library Country Christmas Craft Sale	Nov 26, 2005	The Blackfalds Public Library Country Christmas Craft Sale will be held on Saturday, November 27, 2004. Registration will start at the library at the beginning of September. Contact us for more information.
Friends of the Library Garage Sale	May 28, 2005	The Annual Friends of the Library Garage Sale on May 28, 2005 will be held during the annual Town of Blackfalds garage sale. This event will be held in the parking lot north of the library. If you don't have time to have a garage sale we have the answer. In Spring 2005 before the garage sale the library will be collecting items donated to the library. Gather up your garage sale items and donate them to the library. We will provide storage for these items and then sell them; the funds raised will go to the Building Fund. You will be able to pick up maps of where all the garage sales will be in town on Saturday, May 28. Have a cup of coffee while you browse.
Friends of the Library Book Sale	June 4, 2005	The Annual Friends of the Library Book Sale will be held on Saturday June 4, 2005 on the sidewalk in front of the library. During the annual Blackfalds Days celebration the library displays and sells hundreds of books that have been donated throughout the year. Purchase books in return for a cash donation!
